The new "sharp tip stud" design utilizes a pointed cone-shaped carbide tip in place of the previous cylindrical tip. The "sharp tip" also protrudes farther from the stud body than on previous lug stud designs. The new tip allows easier and deeper penetration of ice and hard pack snow for a better bite resulting in reduced track spin and general elimination of track side-slippage. This pays off in better handling, quicker acceleration, and especially shorter stopping distances on ice with the new Camoplast ICE Ripper XT track that carries this new lug stud.
